I noted the model you quoted from D Link DIR and am waiting for that one to come out since it will feature an Atheros chipset. Can’t seem to enable the LED’s at all: Is there a way to fix that? It works on b if I use ar5212 7. You say your laptop freezes as soon as you plug the card in, so it’s probably loading the wrong driver immediately.

If s previous driver is installed remove this and if it auto detects an older one then remove this as well, do this until it no longer installs a driver. Windows would start allright, and it would connect to the ar212a network, but if I was very lucky, I would be able to view just two or three web pages, after which the system would completely lock up: Do you already have an account? I just cannot understand why manufacturers ship it with such lousy drivers. I’m going to migrate my afheros to gigabit on the wired side to, so as to ensure best performance to the WLAN.
No worries, someone had to do it, no one else put their hand up so I drew the short straw. Now, everything works fine! Should legacy 11b not work then there is a driver problem with old 11b Hope this works, may even play with the above my self to see how athfros settings affect things.

First of all, completely uninstall any other drivers you may have tried for your card. I was frustrated and had my children bugging me after so many hours cant blame them.
I have never looked too deeply into this issue, but the way I have come to understand it, the standard The driver mentioned here being an Atheros driver should probably work with a wide variety of other Atheros cards too, Atheros implement a more or less ‘one size fits all’ driver policy.

Already have an account? Am now trying ar52112a get the Sparklan to do the same, am making very slow progress with this card. As others have mentioned, the freezes seem to happen when there’s a lot of traffic, such as downloading or viewing streaming video. Don’t you see any devices with the yellow exclamation mark next to them?
Any help greatly appreciated. I posted for help in a number of forums and all folks could tell me was that Atheros was garbage.
